Lavender View is a new independent living facility, designed to assist with independent living for over 55s.
This development comprised 61 new flats constructed by Lovell. All residences were designed to exceed the minimum standards of sound insulation required in the Building Regulations by +5dB. I provided detailed acoustic design advice to achieve these requirements, working alongside the architects and other disciplines to produce collaborative solutions that worked for all parties.
As part of the planning process, the team had to overcome many hurdles, including issues with noise from new items of plant impacting on both the new and existing residents. I produced 3D sound propagation models to calculate the noise from proposed items of plant at the various receptors, with the results and likely impact set out in a BS4142 compliant report, submitted to the Borough Council of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk.
